This day the track at Phillip Island was dry with an air temperature of 13’c and a track temperature of 32’c the 23 riders came out and lined up on the grid for the start of the round 17 Motogp race.,The front row had Honda rider Marc Marquez on pole with Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales next then Yamaha rider Johann Zarco completing the front row with Aussie rider Jack Miller on the second row .When the lights went out it was Ducati rider Aussie Jack Miller that rode on to take the lead in the 1st lap and was being pursued by Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez and Suzuki rider Andrea Iannone ,as the laps started to drop off it was Marc Marquez that headed the pack with Anrea Dovizioso pushing hard ,then at the start of lap 5 Honda rider Marc Marquez and Yamaha rider Johann Zarco came together at high speed down Gardiner straight ,the results being the Johann Zarco came off with Marquez entering the pits to retire ,the top step on the podium was now open with Ducati rider Dovizioso leading the way with Moviestar Yamaha Maverick Vinales in pursiut ,after a few laps it Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales who gained the lead and for the next 21 laps fought off challenges from Valentino Rossi ,Andrea Iannone ,Andrea Dovizioso and went on to take the flag at the 2018 Australian Motogp with Suzuki rider Iannone taking second with Ducati rider Andrea Dozioso getting third.
The 30 riders from Moto 2 came out on the grid with the front riders Mattai Pasini on pole ,next was Marcel Schrotter with Xavi Vierge completing the front row .When the flag dropped it was Spanish rider Xavi Vierge who took off and led the Moto2 for the first time around the 4.448 km track ,then after 2 laps it was Red Bull rider Brad Binder who overtook him and for the next 9 laps Binder had the lead then on the 12th lap it was Spanish rider Xavi Vierge who was now leading the pack till lap 19 where Pons rider Lorenzo Baldassari passed him and took the lead and led the riders around for 3 laps before he became unstuck and dropped to the back of the group,then Xavi Vierge who was racing Binder and Joan Mir took the led again until Red Bull KTM rider Brad Binder pounced with a 2 laps to go and went on to win by .036 sec from Joan MIR ,with a steady ride from Joan Mir that took the second step on the podium with Xavi Vierge getting third spot.
In the Moto 3 championship the champoinship is still undecided as there’s 3 riders that can stand on the top step of the podium at Season’s end ,Jorge Martin on 204 points ,Marco Bezzecchi on 203 points and Fabi Di Giannantonio 175 points ,so with 3 rounds to run and 75 points up for grabs every point is going to count so they’ll be looking at finishing each race and geting on the podium. 27 riders came out for the start of the Moto 3 race here at Phillip Island to start the 23 laps of the 4.448 km track ,The track was Dry with an air temp of 14’c and a track temp of 31’c .Lining up on the front row was Gresini Honda rider Jorge Martin ,Red Bull rider Darryn Binder and Estrella Honda rider Ayumu Sasaki completing the front row .When the lights went out the riders took off down Gardiner straight and the battle was starting to develop between Jorge Martin,Gabriel Rodrigo and Darryn Binder who were fighting for the lead ,but as the laps went by the lead changed many times .With 6 laps to go there was still no clear leader ,was it going to be Estrella rider Aron Canet ,or SIC58 rider Tatsuki Suzuki ,Del Conca Gresini rider Jorge Martin ,with every lap came another challenger but 23 came up it was Angel Nito rider Albert Arenas who was leading and went on to take the chequered flag by .052 of sec with Del Conca Gresini rider Fabio Giannantonio coming in 0.059 of a sec infront of SKY Racing 46 rider Celestino Vietti ,there was only 0.099 of a sec between the top 5 placings ,pretty good racing after 23 laps around Phillip Island.
